What is your objective?

As a result of co-teaching with the tech ed teacher in a 3 week unit (7-8 class sessions) periods, students will be able to have a foundational understanding of beginning coding in Frogger. In addition to programming skills, students will be able to transfer ideas of coding to a global context.

What standards will you meet as part of this lesson? ISTE, NGSS, Common Core, etc... Think Computer Science, Math, Literacy, etc
ISTE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (as suggested in the curriculum materials) I am also thinking about how it can integrate into ELA standards with storytelling or fiction stories, also AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner. Not specifically sure at this time, but playing with those ideas right now.

What game will you teach first?

I will teach Frogger first, with the opportunity to continue second semester as an after school club and go on with Journey.

What grade(s) will you teach?

I will start with 6th grade.

How often do you meet with your class? How many total class periods?

I anticipate that it will be a 3 week unit. We meet every other day, so it will be about 8 class sessions.

How many students will you teach?

It will be 4 classes each semester over 2 semesters, so a total of 8 classes this year. Averaging 25-30 students-- this will be 200-240 students this year. Plus an anticipated average of 20-25 kids in an after school club.

What will the layout of classes look like? For example, Class 1: I will introduce the program, teach class rules, etc. Class 2: Frogger Part I
Class 1: baseline knowledge of coding--what it is, where it is used in the real world, the message that "yes, you can do it!" PRE SURVEY Class 2: managing AgentSheets--what it looks like, windows open, saving, etc... Classes 3 and 4: Frogger street scene Classes 5 and 6: Frogger water scene Classes 7 and 8: POST SURVEY and upload to arcade

What support materials will you need/use? (Consider curricula materials, technology resources, etc)

I will for sure rely on the curriculum binder we have received as well as the wiki resources

How will you integrate it into your existing curriculum? For example, will it replace current lessons, will you swap an existing lesson for a SGD lesson?
It will replace some of the existing lessons in 6th grade tech.

When do you plan to teach this unit for the first time?

Probably October for first semester and February for second semester.
