What standards will you meet as part of this lesson? ISTE, NGSS, Common Core, etc... Think Computer Science, Math, Literacy, etc I will use the Science standards and the Community College Competencies for the Colorado Community College System (research needed to isolate which ones)

What game will you teach first?

Computer Tech:

  • Frogger (Journey to experienced folks)
  • Sokoban
  • Pacman
  • Space Invaders

  • Heat Transfer

What grade(s) will you teach? Grades 9 - 12 Computer & Engineering

How often do you meet with your class? How many total class periods? 2 Class Periods - 5 times weekly for 58 minutes each period.

How many students will you teach? 60 students

What will the layout of classes look like? For example, Class 1: I will introduce the program, teach class rules, etc. Class 2: Frogger Part I

  • Week 1 - Introduction/Play day/ First project - Listed above
  • Week 2 - Finish 1st game / introduce new CTP's / Project 2
  • Week 3 - Project 3 and plan for Independent project or Project 4
  • Week 4 - Project 4 or independent Project.

What support materials will you need/use? (Consider curricula materials, technology resources, etc)

  • Content Management System - Canvas
  • Student Handouts / Most will be online in CMS
  • Computer Resources are in place (I am the the tech guy in our building!)
  • Additional Software for students who want to explore and expand on the Gaming concept. (Games Factory & Game Maker)

How will you integrate it into your existing curriculum? For example, will it replace current lessons, will you swap an existing lesson for a SGD lesson? It will replace some current work with simulation modeling software from another source. It will be an addition to the engineering course and serve as a support to the current Project Lead the Way program.

When do you plan to teach this unit for the first time? This will be a second semester task for my classes.
