There are different ways to upload your games to the Scalable Game Design Arcade depending on the AgentSheets version you are using. If you are not certain which version of AgentSheets you have, please consult the tutorial for locating the software version.

AgentSheets 3.0 version

AgentSheet Ver. 3.0 can archive your project folder, applet folder and screen dump with one click (It converts your project to Java applet too) and creates a single ArcadeFile.zip, which you need to submit to the Arcade.

Preparing files for submission in AgentSheets

  • Select the Submit to Arcade... menu option under the File Menu, to archive your project folder, applet folder, and screen dump. Please make sure at least one worksheet is open in your project.

AgentSheets 2.6.x version

After creating a game, such as Frogger, you can submit it to the Scalable Game Design Arcade. To successfully do that, keep in mind the following:

  • You will need to create three files:1) a compressed ("zipped") project file, 2) a compressed Java Applet file, and 3) an image file containing a screen shot of your game.
  • You don't need to submit all three files at the same time. You can submit them one by one, even though you would see some warning messages about missing files.

Preparing files for submission in AgentSheets

1) Compressed Project File: Find your project folder under the ‘Projects’ folder where AgentSheets is installed (normally in the 'Program Files' folder of a Windows system or the Applications folder on a Mac), or wherever you saved your project. Compress the folder as follows:

  • Windows Users: Right click with the mouse on the folder and select "Send to" -> Compressed (Zipped) Folder. Then, Windows will zip the folder. Click for Video Tutorial
  • Mac Users: Right click with the mouse on the folder and select "Compress <your folder name>".

This will result in a compressed file with the same name as the folder, with a ".zip" on the end of the file name. It will be saved in the folder in which the folder you are compressing resides, or on the desktop.

2) Compressed Java Applet File: To create the Java applet, use the 'Ristretto' feature of AgentSheets. You can find the "Ristretto' button at the right end of AgentSheet menu bar. Ristretto.png. Locate the generated Java applet folder (usually this appears on your desktop unless you changed the default location to be a different one. Compress the folder using the same procedure as with the project folder above.

3) Game screen shot: To create a screen dump (screen shot) of your game, follow these steps depending on your platform:

  • Windows Users: Use the 'Print Screen' key, which may be labeled in different ways, such as 'Prt Sc' or 'Prnt Scrn'. If you use 'Alt' + the Print Screen key, you can capture a selected window; otherwise, the entire screen will be captured. If you are using a notebook or laptop, and if your print screen key is in a box, use Alt + Print Screen (Print Src or Prt sc) with the Function (Fn) key. Windows saves the captured screen image in the clipboard. Launch a graphics tool (e.g., Paint, Photoshop, Fireworks, etc), create a blank file (document), paste the captured image from the clipboard by pressing the 'Ctrl - V' keys or selecting Edit->Paste menu option of your program. Save it as a 'Jpeg' file (.jpg) when you finish editing your screen dump as you like. Click for Video Tutorial .

  • Mac Users: Press "command + shift + 4". The mouse pointer will change to a cross-hair cursor. Select the part of the screen you want to capture. The result will be saved with the name ‘Picture <n>’ on your desktop. (The first snapshot saved will be 'Picture 1'; succsssive snapshots will have increasing numbers in the name.) You can double-click on the file to preview the appearance. Click for Video Tutorial
