How does one scale up a computer science education strategy to an entire school district? With the support of the Google CS4HS program the University of Colorado is scaling up the Scalable Game Design project in Auroa Public Schools (APS) to an entire district. Kevin Riebau and Joe Dillon explain how the APS administration will implement this daunting task. With nearly 40,000 students in 59 schools APS is not only Colorado third largest school district but also one of the most diverse. The APS approach is unique to the nation and has even been recognized by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan as inspirational model to realize the American dream. Scalable Game Design Brazil: Three years ago, a team of professionals from the Department of Informatics, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) has invested in promoting the project Scalable Game Desing Brazil , a Brazilian version of the American project, designed by Alexander Repenning, University Colorado, which aims to promote research and practice in the area of computational thinking, assisting the teaching of computing in schools.
